Lorraine Green

About Me

My name is Lorraine. In my life I have had many different experiences, some positive, some negative. It is these that have led me on my journey to becoming a counsellor, my personal experiences enhance my work with people as they allow me to have a deeper understanding of how emotional and overwhelming life can be at times.

I am a professionally qualified (Dip.C) Integrative Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) working within their ethical framework for good practice. I have worked in various settings which include the following:

Headway: men and women recovering from head trauma, their carers family members and Headway staff.

East Kent Rapeline: working with women who have experienced rape or childhood sexual abuse

Rising Sun Domestic Abuse: women who have experienced physical, verbal, emotional or sexual abuse

Home Start:  working with families who are struggling to cope with family demands

SNAPP: an  NHS programme exploring emotional eating.

I currently work as a private practitioner and have a lead role with a charity which works with obesity and weight gain caused by emotional eating. Within these settings I have worked with a variety of presenting issues these include the following:

  • Emotional eating
  • Addiction
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Childhood Abuse
  • Domestic Abuse
  • Bereavement
